Rafanelli Receives United States Deputy Sheriffs Association Scholarship

Adriana K. Rafanelli, a graduate of Jackson County High School, has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 United States Deputy Sheriffs Association scholarship.

The scholarship is an honor given to only one child of a law enforcement officer nationwide. Rafanelli’s father is a Gwinnett County Police Major and is currently the Central Precinct Commander .

Rafanelli, 17, will attend College of Coastal Georgia in the fall.

Scholarship Opportunity For Virginia Criminal Justice Students

The Virginia Sheriffs Scholarship program was established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to pursue an education in criminal justice. Accordingly, the Board of Directors has established the application process for students to receive scholarships to assist in their educational endeavors. The scholarships are available only to students in jurisdictions where sheriffs participated in scholarship fundraising efforts. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities.

San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs’ Foundation

The San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs Foundation scholarship program was created in 2010 after Deputy Ken Collier was tragically killed in a traffic accident in the line of duty. Though Colliers untimely passing was not the San Diego County Sheriffs Departments first or only loss, the tragic event served as a poignant reminder of our duty to remember and honor the lives of our fallen.

Each year, the Deputy Sheriffs Foundation awards four scholarships to Class 1 Active DSA members nine scholarships are awarded to the dependents of Class 1 Active or Retired DSA members.
