Be a Coca-Cola Scholar

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation amplifies the impact of visionary leaders who are refreshing the world through scholarships, lifelong learning, and a powerful community of mission-driven changemakers. And it all starts with an application submitted during the senior year of high school.

A partnership between The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola bottlers across the country, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has awarded more than 6,600 students with over $78 million total in scholarships since 1989 through its Coca-Cola Scholars Program. An achievement-based program, it recognizes 150 students each year who are making a positive impact in their schools and communities through their leadership and service with a $20,000 college scholarship.

How To Ace The Coca

Emphasize your engagement in your school community

In your application, make sure to pick the experiences that truly show off your leadership and volunteer work. If you still have a few years before you plan on applying for the Coca-Cola Scholarship, consider seeking out extracurricular leadership roles and awards that demonstrate your ability to take initiative and your leadership skills.

Have your application reviewed before submission

Coca-Cola Scholarships are competitive, so make sure your application doesnt get dismissed because of careless mistakes such as typos, spelling mistakes, or grammatical errors. Take the time to ask a trusted family member or friend, teacher, or mentor to review your application before submission.

Stand out from the crowd

The second stage of the process allows you to share more about yourself, your interests, and your goals. If you qualify, you should use your essays to speak about experiences in your life that have shaped you. Stand out by sharing your most meaningful traits and passions. This would help them get a sense of who you are beyond what can be seen on your application/résumé.

Reach out to former winners

The scholarship has a huge network of alumni. You could reach out to one of them, perhaps someone from your city or state, and ask them what they did to win the scholarship. They can give you valuable insight into what makes for an ideal candidate.

Demonstrate A High Level Of Academic Achievement

You may have noted from earlier in this piece that Coca-Cola scholarship winners attend some of the best colleges in the country. This and other corporate scholarship programs seek to invest in students that have the most promise and potential.

Earning great marks is one approach to demonstrate your personal potential this will undoubtedly help you when applying to colleges and other scholarship programs.

In addition, if AP or advanced classes are available, take them. If your academic record demonstrates a more demanding course load, youll be a more impressive applicant.

Embrace the Lack of First-Round Essays

Unlike many scholarship applications, the Coca Cola Scholars application doesnt require any essays in the first-round of the application process. Any application for which you don’t have to write an essay must be an easy application, right? In reality, the Coca-Cola Scholarship application is trickier than most because it doesn’t give you a chance to explain either your academic performance or your participation in extracurriculars.

Essentially, you can’t talk about your passions, well-roundedness, intelligence, or commitment to service to make yourself stand out from the thousands of other first-round applicants. The only thing you can do is showthrough your grades and your participation in various activitieshow you embody the qualities that the Coca-Cola Scholarship values in its award recipients.
