CPA is proud to announce that we will be partnering with St. Davids for their 2017 Toast of the Town fundraiser.
Presented by the St. Davids Foundation Community Fund, Toast of the Town is a series of unique events hosted in private homes and interesting venues throughout central Texas each spring to raise money and awareness for the St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund. In 2016, Toast of the Town was a huge success, raising almost $1.5 million for the St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship.
St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship changes the lives of students in Central Texas pursuing health care professions by covering up to $7,500 per year of college-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books and medical supplies. This May Is Time For Toast
Our committee members are hard at work planning the classic Toast of the Town experience you know and love. We’re bringing back our renowned intimate in-home parties, while also offering the most popular at-home events we created for the 2021 season.
The series will run in May 2022, and will include celebrated literary, culinary and musical talent from across the country as well as local favorites. Expect to be dazzled by prize-winning authors, experts on historical and current affairs, famed musicians, acclaimed chefs and engaging community leaders.

Dr. Edward Burger: St. Davids Foundation is one of the largest health foundations in the United States, funding $80 million annually in a five-county area surrounding Austin, Texas. Through a unique partnership with St. Davids HealthCare, the Foundation reinvests proceeds from the hospital system back into the community, with a goal of advancing health equity and improving the health and well-being of our most underserved Central Texas neighbors. St. Davids Foundation also operates the largest mobile dental program providing charity care in the country and offers the largest healthcare scholarship program in Texas.

Our Mission: To Fund St Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarships
All proceeds from Toast of the Town sponsorships and tickets magnified by a two-to-one match by St. Davids Foundation Community Fund are dedicated to the St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund awards needs and merit based scholarships to Central Texas high school seniors for their education in health-related degree programs at Texas colleges and universities.
The St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship is one of the largest scholarship programs in Central Texas, supporting scholars from Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. Since the programs inception in 2005, more than 560 students have received the scholarships to study medicine, nursing, physical therapy, biomedical engineering and other health-related careers.

Announcing The 2022 St Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship
St. Davids Foundation is pleased to honor the legacy of Dr. W. Neal Kocurek with a scholarship program in his name to support Central Texas students pursuing health-related studies at Texas colleges and universities.
A beloved civic and corporate leader, Dr. Kocurek was passionate about the power of education. He possessed a special gift for bringing people together to achieve progress in areas such as healthcare, public education, social equity, and regional stewardship. He was also deeply invested in the challenge of providing healthcare for the poor and addressing the root causes of health inequities in Austin.
Beginning , applications are being accepted for the 2022 St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship. High school seniors from Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties are highly encouraged to apply if they have a passion for a career in health care and will be attending a university or college within the state of Texas.
What began with seven scholars in 2005 has evolved into the largest health scholarship program in Texas. The St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship has supported more than 600 Central Texas students to date, including 72 program graduates in 2021.

Scholarships are for Healthcare Studies at Texas Universities and Colleges.
Applicants must be a high school senior within Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, or Williamson counties
Applicants are accepted at an accredited college or university in Texas to pursue a degree in a healthcare related discipline. Note: students pursuing veterinary and other non-human healthcare careers will not be considered.

Aisd Students Receive St Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship
St. Davids Foundation awarded 16 Austin ISD students the St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship on Wednesday, July 25.
The scholarship provides college funding for high school graduates pursuing careers in the medical field at Texas colleges and universities. It also provides resources such as a tutoring program access to mental health counseling, legal and financial services, and wellness coaching and access to mentors from St. Davids Healthcare or St. Davids Foundation network.
Each student attending a four-year college or university will receive $7,500 per year for up to eight years if continuing on to graduate school. Students in two-year programs will receive $2,000 per semester.

Its Toast Time in Austin, the wonderful season when exceptional parties bloom around town in support of the St. Davids Foundation Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund.
I had the distinct pleasure of participating in the first two parties this year. I moderated a discussion with Karan Mahajan, author of The Association Small Bombs, at Saturday afternoons event, then appeared on Tuesday night with Shaka at a party where he was the featured speaker. Both were great opportunities to show support for Central Texas students like Jona Mata and Tevon Hood in their quests for healthcare careers.
The St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund supports students from Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. Since the program launched in 2005, more than 340 students have received the scholarships to study medicine, nursing, physical therapy, biomedical engineering and other health-related careers. If youd like to make a special donation in honor of students like those pictured, . We are only $10,000 away from reaching our goal of raising $500,000 for scholarships. Moreover, these dollars will be matched 2 to 1 by St. Davids Foundation, providing $1.5 million for students.

St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship provides an up to $7,500 yearly to graduating seniors of Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop, or Caldwell counties. The scholarship is given to students pursuing a health care profession. The awardee may use the funds for tuition, fees, books and medical supplies needed in pursuing education.
St David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Application
St. Davids Foundation Community Fund established the St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship to honor the vision and community spirit of its longtime CEO. A natural mentor, Kocurek was an advisor to many Austin school superintendents and educators. The scholarships are awarded to students who exemplify Neal Kocureks leadership and commitment to community. Financial need and scholastic merit will be considered in the review process. We have awarded 661 Neal Kocurek scholarships since the programs inception in 2005, and 45 were awarded in 2021.
St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarships are for:
- High school seniors graduating from Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop, or Caldwell counties
- Students pursuing health professions
- Up to $7,500 per year for up to four years undergraduate at Texas colleges and universities and up to four years of graduate studies and/or medical school, and up to $4,000 a year at Texas community colleges
- Expenses such as tuition, fees, books and medical supplies
- Financial need considered in the application process. Proof of family income is required.
The scholarship is for students interested in pursuing human health professions, clinical and non-clinical, including but not limited to: Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, Radiation Oncology, Nursing, Health Philanthropy, Optometry, Clinical Laboratory Technology.

St David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Program Awards Bestowed To High School Students In Austin Leander Pflugerville And Manor
AUSTIN, TX In a move to bolster the pipeline for a strong health care workforce an increasingly critical cog amid a global pandemic the St. David’s Foundation has awarded scholarships to 47 aspiring medical professionals from throughout the Austin area.
Future medical professionals attending his schools in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties were bestowed the scholarships through the foundation’s St. Davids Neal Kocurek Scholarship Program, officials wrote in an advisory. The recipients attend the following high schools:
- Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders .
- Austin High School.
- Harmony School of Endeavor .
- Hendrickson High School .
- Liberal Arts & Science Academy .
- Manor High School.
- Vandegrift High School .
- Weiss High School .
“The years scholarship recipients represent a diverse group of students with truly unique life experiences,” officials wrote. “Scholars range from first-generation Americans and legacy scholar recipients to medical technicians and young adults balancing both work and school.
