The Bottom Line On Easy College Scholarships
Easy-apply and no-essay college scholarships are a fun and simple way for students to supplement their college savings. Still, they arent necessarily the most effective way to win scholarship awards.
Because theyre so easy to apply to, most of these scholarships receive thousands of applicants every year and typically award winners at random. This makes them more like sweepstakes than traditional scholarships since need and merit are not usually factored into award decisions.
If students have the time, they should research more specific scholarships to their identity, interests, or talents scholarships requiring essays or letters of recommendation may require more work. Still, they often offer more significant awards and choose scholarship recipients more judiciously.
However, if students can appreciate that they might not win every scholarship they apply to, quick-apply college scholarships and sweepstakes can be a fun and exciting part of the scholarship application process.

Does Fafsa Affect Merit Scholarships
The relationship between the FAFSA and a merit scholarship will largely depend on the rules the scholarshipâs donor sets. Some forms of federal financial aid are completely blind to merit scholarships. To learn more, read this guide on the FAFSA and what it means for your financial needs.
For example, students must fill out the FAFSA to apply for a Federal Pell Grant. Students who are awarded a Pell Grant can apply for and win as many merit scholarships as they like, and the amount they get from the Pell Grant will not be reduced. Many need-based forms of financial aid will not consider other forms of aid the student earns.
Some merit scholarships, but not all, will reduce the aid they award to you if your financial needs have already been met. This can be because of budgeting or other reasons but is important to consider when applying for merit awards.
In general, need-based aid will not be affected by merit awards, but merit scholarships may be affected by need-based aid.

One such service is the TEFC Music Scholarship, a unique opportunity for musically gifted young people. Students all over the nation can enter the music scholarship, which is only concerned with one thing: not GPA, not recommendations, but pure talent. Applicants send a recording to the Tupelo Elvis Fan Club, which then sorts through the entries and selects 10 finalists who will perform at the fan clubs annual convention in April. A Small Note: Easy To Win Vs Easy To Apply
There are a ton of scholarships out there with very short, simple, easy applications. Although its smart to apply to scholarships like these – its not like youre wasting much time or energy on the application – an easy application is not the same as an easy win.
These super simple apps likely attract a ton of applicants. Its like playing the lottery – it doesnt hurt, but its not like you can count on the winnings.
Finally, if you come across a scholarship application that’s too good to be true, it probably is. If a scholarship organization purports to guarantee winnings to applicants – especially if the application asks you to submit sensitive information or even payment – it’s probably a scam.
Be careful about giving out sensitive information – make sure that your applications are going to legitimate organizations
As you may have realized by now, there is no short list of easy scholarships to win for all students. In order to find such scholarships, you’ll have to do a bit of legwork. These next three steps will walk you through everything you need to know about finding easy awards.

Created in response to concerns over sailors rights in WWI, the FRA continues, nearly a century later, to lobby Congress to protect the pay, benefits, and rights of active-duty Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard personnel and their families. That also includes awards for distinguished personnel, and a wealth of generous educational scholarships for members and their families. The FRA Education Foundation awards scholarships for FRA members, as well as their families, including spouses, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Recipients are eligible for up to $5000, and the FRA distributes more than $100,000 every year to qualified applicants. Applicants must be US citizens and enrolled full-time in an accredited American institution.
