Fhs Students Earn Recognition In National Merit Scholarship Program

USA Universities offering 100% scholarship for international students | Part 1

The Fairport Central School District is proud to recognize Fairport High School student Shane Kuo, who has been named a semi-finalist in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Competition!

Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 11th grade. Over 1.5 million students enter the program this way every year, and the students with the highest scores in each state are designated as semi-finalists. These students make up less than one percent of the states graduating seniors.

Kuo is now eligible to compete for close to 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, which are worth nearly $30 million.

The District is also proud to commend those Fairport High School Students who were recently named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students earned commendation for their performance on the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT. Each student scored above the 95th percentile on the exam.

Providing The Edge For Success

The Queensborough Community College Fund, Inc. supports Queensborough Community College, its students, faculty and its programs. The Edge for Success provides scholarships, support and an enriched learning environment to hardworking students giving them an extra edge so they can complete college, find a career and earn a living wage. The Fund is incorporated under Section 402 of the New York State Not for Profit Corporation Law and Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Leopold Schepp Foundation Scholarships

The Leopold Schepp Foundation focuses on leadership and charitable works around the world, with a headquarters in New York City and a significant interest in the achievement of New York students. To that end, the foundation offers scholarships to students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at New York state universities. Recipients must be under the age of 30 and maintain a 3.2 GPA. A personal interview in New York City is required. Applicants who are denied for the scholarship cannot reapply in the future.

New York State Scholarships For Academic Excellence

This program provides scholarship assistance to outstanding New York State high school graduates. Awards are based on student grades in certain Regents exams. See your high school guidance counselor at your high school for information on how to apply.

Each year, 8,000 scholarships are awarded up to 2,000 scholarships of $1,500 and 6,000 scholarships of $500 to top scholars from registered New York State high schools. Recipients can also receive other non-loan student aid, but the total cannot exceed the cost of attendance. Scholarships for Academic Excellence provide up to $1,500 per year for up to five years of undergraduate study in New York State.

Eligibility

  • Have graduated from high school
  • Study full time and be matriculated in an approved undergraduate program of study in a New York State post-secondary institution
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Not be in default on any guaranteed student loan administered by HESC
  • Be a U.S. citizen or qualifying non-citizen
  • Be a New York State resident

Education Development For Growth And Excellence

Since its inception in 1975, the Fund has worked to bridge financial gaps and decrease equity disparities experienced by our students to ensure their success. The Board allocates approximately $1,000,000 budget per year to support the cultural centers on campus, faculty and staff development, and student success and academic excellence.

With scholarships, awards, peer-support, mentoring, emergency aid, cultural programming, and innovative faculty initiatives, the Fund provides students with opportunities to complete their studies and earn a college degree.

New York State Higher Education Services Corp

New Yorks TAP program is one of the largest need-based scholarship funds in the entire state, and the part-time version of the program is the most popular. This program, based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA, provides a yearly grant for students who are first-time freshmen, maintain a C or better average, and enroll in no more than 12 credits per semester. Because this is a state-funded, need-based program, scholarship funds will technically renew each year. Award amounts may be adjusted each year, however, based on fluctuations in the students demonstrated financial need.

Bard College International Student Scholarship Program

Bard College offers a need-based scholarship to international students who are enrolled in the institution. The financial award is given to eligible foreign students to pursue a full-time bachelors degree at Bard College.

International students who wish to win the scholarship must have to show financial need by completing the International Student Application for Financial Aid. The number of financial aid is limited. In addition, the scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and airfare.

Understanding and Applying for the New York State Excelsior Scholarship Program

The Rose Biller scholarship program is offered to Jewish students located within 35 miles of the New York City metropolitan area. Applicants must be permanent residents of New York and must be studying at a New York State college or university. The program provides several scholarships each year in the amount of $5,000. In order to be eligible for this scholarship program, Jewish applicants must be at least in their sophomore year of an undergraduate program. Though the scholarships do not renew, previous recipients are encouraged to reapply each year.

Higher Education Opportunity Program

The Higher Education Opportunity Program is available to several private colleges, including New York University and Columbia. Requirements and aid vary by school. Applications can be found at the students college or university. For more information, please visit www.heop.org.

Requirements: Applicant must be a New York State resident for a minimum of two years at time of application.

Math And Science Teaching Incentive Scholarship

Designed to help ease a shortage of highly qualified math and science teachers in the state of New York, this state-funded program pays the full cost of a four-year degree in math or science education at a the State University of New York institution. All recipients of this award must be New York residents, graduates of New York high schools, and enrolled at a SUNY institution on an in-state basis. Additionally, recipients must agree to teach math or science in the state of New York for a minimum of five years after graduation.

This need-based award of up to $4,000 per semester goes toward the additional costs of studying away for undergraduate degree-seeking students whose home campus is New York City. You must have a current FAFSA on file with the university to be considered. Award notifications occur in June for the fall semester and November for the spring semester.

Arthur W Pense Scholarship

This scholarship was created in honor of Dr. Arthur W. Pense, a long time NYS Assistant Commissioner of Mental Hygiene. An exceptional administrator and friend of The Arc New York, he utilized community health programs to develop local services for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. An applicant must be a New York State resident and not currently receiving a scholarship through The Arc New York. Also, an applicant must be enrolled in a physical or occupational therapy degree program and may include a 2-3 month fieldwork program as part of their degree. For more information on the Arthur W. Horatio Alger New York Scholarship Program

This $10,000 award from the Horatio Alger Association is specifically designed to help students who have overcome huge challenges in their lives. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are able to show proof of financial need, have a grade-point average of 2.0 or above and provide a personal essay, school transcript and a letter of recommendation.

In addition, students must show proof of community service and co-curricular activities, and plan to attend college no later than the fall after graduation. Deadline for application is in late October.

Flight 3407 Memorial Scholarship provides financial aid to children, spouses and financial dependents of individuals killed as a direct result of the crash of Continental Airlines Flight 3407 in Clarence, New York on February 12, 2009. Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants

100% Scholarships for International Students at Columbia University | Road to Success Ep. 05

The FSEOG program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by New York University to provide assistance to students with exceptional financial need. If you qualify for this grant, you will be automatically considered.

Who is Eligible

  • Undergraduate students who are also eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and NYU scholarship recipients will automatically be considered. FSEOG may be awarded in place of scholarship funding.

  • Complete the FAFSA. You will be automatically considered if you qualify.

Berkeley College International Honors Program

Every year, Berkeley College offers international honors funding to outstanding students who are admitted to the institution. The scholarship enables international students to pursue an undergraduate degree program at Berkeley College.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must not be citizens of the United States.
  • Candidates should be first-time students.
  • Applicants will have graduated from an accredited high school and pass an entrance exam or possess the required SAT/ACT scores.
  • Candidates must enroll full-time in an associate or bachelors degree program at Berkeley.

New York State: Flight 3407 And Flight 587 Memorial Scholarships

Designated specifically for children whose parents died in two tragic New York State plane crashes in 2001 and 2009, these two scholarships are fully renewable and cover the full cost of tuition at a public or private university in the Empire State. To qualify for this program, students whose parents were lost in either flight must submit their FAFSA as well as a supplemental form that documents the death of one or both parents in these accidents.

Nancy And Harry Koenigsberg/textile Study Group Of New York Scholarship

Students enrolled in an art school, or technical program will be most likely to qualify for this unique financial aid opportunity in New York State. The program centers on fiber art, defined as art made with flexible materials. Students apply and submit a portfolio of their artwork. If chosen, the scholarship recipient receives $1,500 and the opportunity to present their fiber art to the annual TSGNY meeting in New York City each June. Recipients must be enrolled in a public or private university within the New England or Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. The award does not renew.

The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Childrens Foundation sponsors this scholarship for children of law enforcement officers or firefighters who were either killed or permanently disabled on the job.
