Iraq And Afghanistan Service Grant

Another federal grant program is the Iraq and Afrghanistan Service Grant. It provides funds to help pay for college or career school. The grant helps out military students who were ineligible for a Pell Grant.

It is for those whose parent or guardian was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and died as a result of service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after September 11, 2001. You must also be a currently enrolled college at least part time at the time of the parents or guardians death.

The Council Of Military Educators Veteran Scholarship

Description:The Council of Military Educators is pleased to offer $1000 scholarships each year to United States Servicemembers and spouses of servicemembers who are working towards the completion of higher education degrees.

Application Requirements:

  • be a prior uniformed service member

  • first-time associate, bachelor or graduate degree seeker

  • have a minimum of 12 or more hours with a cumulative 2.5 GPA from the CCME member institution minimum of 6 or more hours with a cumulative 3.0 GPA from the CCME member institution

  • submit an unofficial college or university transcript from your current institution

  • submit two recommendation forms to be completed by persons unrelated to applicant, who will attest to their motivation, character, integrity and educational pursuit. One recommendation must be from a faculty member or academic advisor.

What Is A Military Grant


Military grants provide students with financial assistance to pay for school without requiring that money to be paid back. The Federal Pell Grant offers up to $6,495 in federal education assistance for students with financial need. States, individual schools, and nonprofit organizations may also offer grants.

Military grant programs require a student to be an active or former member of the U.S. Armed Services or be a dependent or spouse of military personnel.     While there arent an infinite amount of military scholarships, there is a good quantity of them, which is important considering the large number of students that can apply for them, whether they are beginning college or returning to resume their college education.

    Graydon And Myrth Fox Scholarship

    This scholarship is offered to several programs to qualified students in the Sacramento Region. Created by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at philanthropic and civic works, this platform helps people to create charitable funds.

    The Army Womens Foundation Legacy scholarship was established to honor the many women serving in the U.S. Army. The grant provides up to $2,500 in tuition assistance for undergraduate and graduate military vets.

    Each year, the Tailhook Educational Foundation offers over 100 scholarships. Awards range from $3,000 to $15,000. They are given to the children or grandchildren of current or former:

    • Naval or Marine Corps Aviators
    • Flight Officers

    The member can also have served on board a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier.

    Amount: $5,000

    The General George S. Brown Spouse Tuition Assistance Program is administered by the Air Force Aid Society. The program is commonly referred to as STAP. It provides up to $5,000 for selected spouses of active duty U.S. Air Force service members.

    STAP was created to provide partial tuition assistance for spouses of military personnel. The goal is to help spouses complete educational programs that will help increase their own opportunities for employment.

    How to apply: Eligible candidates need to prove they are legally married to a service member, and without separation or pending divorce.

    The applicant must also be a high school graduate enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and has maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. A demonstration of financial need is also a determining factor.

    The level of tuition assistance varies based on unmet tuition costs each semester. STEP can cover 50% of unmet tuition charges per course, or a maximum of $1,500 per academic year.
