, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Lockheed Martin today launched a science, technology, engineering and math scholarship program for high school and college undergraduate students planning to pursue a major in engineering and computer science.

Beginning in 2019, the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program will award a $10,000 annual scholarship to 200 recipients who demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities. Recipients may renew the scholarship up to three times for a total potential value of $40,000 per student.

“We are looking for students who are creative and innovative skills that are necessary for success in today’s high-tech economy,” said Patricia L. Lewis senior vice president of Human Resources. “As a global leader in innovation, Lockheed Martin is focused on growing and inspiring the next generation of STEM talent that will help our customers tackle the world’s toughest challenges and shape the future.”

The STEM Scholarship program will continue to add up to 200 new recipients each year for a minimum total investment of $30 million over five years. The program is part of a series of investments Lockheed Martin is making in education and innovation as a direct result of tax reform.

Mentoring opportunities will be a key component of the program, and recipients will also be eligible for Lockheed Martin internship opportunities following their freshman year in college.

In 2022, Lockheed Martin is investing nearly $8 million towards two scholarship programs to widen networks of opportunity, close skills gaps and prepare the next generation for the future of work.

For the fourth straight year, Lockheed Martin is offering a four-year Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Scholarship program. This program has supported nearly 600 students pursuing majors in engineering or computer science, demonstrate financial need, and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.

For the second year in a row, Lockheed Martin is offering a Vocational Scholarship Program for learners pursuing an associate degree. This program currently supports over 150 learners of all ages participating in skills-based training in cutting-edge technology and advanced manufacturing fields.

These scholarship programs are crucial to cultivate a competitive and diverse workforce that can make far-reaching impacts in emerging technologies like cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing and other career paths.

In 2021, we received more than 7,000 applications. These competitive programs develop the next generation of top talent and serve as a potential launching point for a career with Lockheed Martin. More than 60 students across both scholarships have been hired into Lockheed Martin as interns, apprentices or for other early-career opportunities.

The AB HBCU Scholars Program provides $5,000 awards, summer internships and mentoring opportunities to second-year students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities .

Applicants must be current sophomores graduating in 2025 with a minimum 3.0 GPA who self-identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, and must be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in an eligible major for the entire next academic year.

Recipients of the AB HBCU Scholarship must complete a 9-week paid internship with AllianceBernstein during the summer of 2023 awards are renewable up to one additional year if recipients meet renewal requirements.

The Allen, Dena and Michele Baum Scholarship Fund, part of the Boca Bearings Momentum initiative, provides $3,000 scholarship awards to Florida students pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.

Lockheed Martin, a FIRST Chesapeake sponsor, has launched a new scholarship program to provide opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world!

Beginning in 2019, they are awarding 200 scholarships of $10,000 per student renewable each year. The program will continue to add up to 200 new recipients each year, and will be open to individuals studying engineering or computer science that demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.

The scholarship program doesnt end with a check. Mentoring opportunities will be a key component of the program, and recipients will also be eligible for Lockheed Martin internship opportunities following their freshman year in college.

The Scholarship is a double sized opportunity for future engineers. 100 high school seniors like you will win $40,000 for college and a guaranteed paid internship at Amazon!

To apply, you must be a high school senior planning to pursue a bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or another computer science related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or university. Applicants to the Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Program must meet all the following eligibility requirements. Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a high school senior OR high school graduate .
  • Have not earned a bachelors degree prior to the 2022-23 academic year.
  • Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll part- or full-time at one of the following types of accredited institutions: vocational technical school, trade school, two-year community college or state college.
  • Be pursuing an associates degree, credit-bearing certificate or an industry-recognized credential, in one of the fields of study below, with an anticipated completion date no earlier than December 2022 and no later than June 2025.
  • Note: If students Specific Major falls under one of the listed Fields of Study, but the students Specific Major is not listed, student is still eligible to apply.

    High School Senior College Scholarship Contest

    The High School Senior and Second Chance Contests have ended. AFSA will unveil a new scholarship contest in 2023. AFSA is proud of the success of its High School Senior and Second Chance scholarship contests. Since the programs creation in 1996, AFSAs contests have sought to promote the scholarship outside of the fire sprinkler industry in the hope of reaching students who may otherwise never have recognized the importance of automatic fire protection.

    AFSAs Public Education & Awareness Committee has voted to redirect the existing scholarship contest to a new contest geared towards those students interested in a design career in the fire protection industry.

    The new contest will aim to recruit and train beginning fire sprinkler system designers by awarding scholarships to attend AFSAs Beginning Design School. The application, eligibility requirements, and other details will be posted on this site in the coming months. The first scholarships will be awarded in 2023.

    Vocational Scholarship Selection Of Recipients

    • Scholarship recipients are selected based on consideration of academic performance, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal.
    • Preference will be given to applicants enrolled or planning to enroll at one of Lockheed Martins priority institutions. It is not mandatory to attend one of the priority institutions to be eligible for the scholarship.
    • Additional consideration will be given to applicants who self-identify as members of the following groups: Women Racial and ethnic minorities Individuals with a disability Individuals that identify as LGBTQ Individuals that are or will be first-generation college students Active Duty U.S. military, including Reserves and National Guard U.S. military Veteran, including Reserves and National Guard Spouse of U.S. military Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or Veteran
