Application Requirements: Essay
Twisted Pink works to further research and access to care for people with metastatic breast cancer. In honor of Jennifer Casey Alderman, a mother and wife who lost her life to the disease, the organization created the Jennifer Casey Alderman Scholarship Award. To apply, youll need to write an essay about any topic of your choosing. Youll also need to provide proof of your eligibility via an obituary, death certificate, or letter from your parents medical oncologist. Scholarship recipients can renew the award each subsequent year for $2,500 annually.
The Womens Independence Scholarship Program
WISP is available nationally to women who have left an abusive domestic situation and who are pursuing an education designed to provide economic independence for themselves and their children. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a woman who is a direct survivor of intimate partner abuse. There is no deadline for applications however, it takes them about two months to review new submissions.

Teaching Grants For Student Teachers
Even though teaching is a thankless profession, still it is rewarding to those who choose it as their field. Teaching is a great profession for single mothers, considering the number of positions that are available throughout the public school system. Although many public school systems are bankrupt and canât offer teachers the resources that they need to teach their students effectively, many others are still financially secure. These school districts have the most demand and many pay very well. There are grants available from the state, as well as the federal government.

The Katz & Phillips Ashley Rose Honorary Diabetes Law Student Scholarship Award is named in honor of David Katzs daughter, Ashley Rose Katz, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 18 months. Out of our many scholarships for single moms, this one is for a law school student who has been impacted by diabetes. You must be a current law student or have been accepted at an accredited law school, and must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher. An official transcript must be submitted as well as an essay between 500 and 1,000 words based on one of three topics:
- How has living with Type 1 diabetes affected your education?
- How have you overcome a particular challenge associated with having Type 1 diabetes?

Sadly, a mere 8 percent of those women typically complete their degrees. And when they do manage to complete their education, they leave school with nearly $30,000 in debt.
“However, single mothers who attain their Bachelor’s degree are 3 times more likely to live above the poverty level. They earn 62 percent more, translating to nearly $300,000 in additional income over the course of their career, on average,” states the website.
This scholarship awards $2,000 to single moms, the children of single moms, and people whose lives have been impacted positively by single moms. The awards are granted every six months.
