Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Requirements

The GSV program is a bit less competitive in terms of its academic eligibility requirements than the FAS or FMS programs. Although this makes it a great fit for some students, keep in mind that the GSV award can only be used to fund a career education or certificate programno four year college degrees.

In order to qualify for the GSV program, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must have a minimum weighted 3.0 GPA in non-elective high school courses
  • Must complete 30 service hours by high school graduation
  • Must take at least three full credits in a single career and technical education program
  • Must achieve a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA in your career education classes
  • Must achieve the minimum score on the ACT, SAT, or P.E.R.T. test

If youve taken both the SAT and the ACT, you unfortunately cant mix and match section subscores between the two tests to meet minimums you can, however, superscore across multiple test dates for the same test. Each Bright Futures scholarship has a different minimum ACT score, and each can be substituted for a qualifying SAT score if applicable. The Florida Academic Scholars award requires a minimum of 29 on the ACT, while the Florida Medallion Scholars program requires a minimum 25. Gold Seal CAPE Scholars have no minimum ACT score, and minimum scores vary by the different levels of Gold Seal Vocational Scholars.

Bright Futures scholarships are available to both students and faculty in three levels: Florida Academic Scholars, Florida Medallion Scholars, and Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars. Each institution has its own criteria and awards cash and credits in addition to having its own eligibility criteria. Tuition, mandatory or applicable fees, such as technology fees, transportation fees, health fees, athletic fees, service fees, and financial aid fees are covered as part of Bright Futures.     Bright Futures For Transient Students

    In order to receive Florida Bright Futures as a transient student, you must be enrolled at least halftime in any State of Florida university or college.

    If you are attending a Florida school, you will need to complete a transient application through Florida Shines. Per federal regulations, financial aid, including Bright Futures awards, cannot be approved for non-required coursework. This is determined by your academic adviser and is reflected on your Florida Shines Transient Student Admission Application. Your enrollment information will be received electronically.

    If you are attending a private Florida school or out of state institution, you are required to provide the following 3 documents:
