Collins Community Cu Member Awarded Scholarship From Icuf

Ella Popenhagen of Collins Community Credit Union in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was recently awarded the Iowa Credit Union Foundations Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarship, which is presented each year to credit union members who are pursing higher education.

Applicants were asked to complete the designated online entry form and answer an essay question in no more than 500 words. This years question was:

Ella Popenhagen won for her entry, where she described the college preparation she received from a Collins Community Credit Union loan officer on building credit, learning about student loans, and steps she can take now to build a successful financial future. Ellas entry also shared her passion for working with people who have special needs, through involvement in multiple school groups that work to erase the stigma and provide opportunities for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Were so excited for Ella as she begins this next step in pursuing her education, and very grateful to the Iowa Credit Union Foundation for recognizing her with this scholarship, said Stefanie Rupert, President and CEO of Collins Community Credit Union. Ellas essay showed us her passion for exemplifying the people helping people philosophy, and we couldnt be prouder.

This year, the Iowa Credit Union Foundation awarded 12 scholarships totaling $23,000.

Canvas Credit Union Enhances Impact In Fort Collins Through Community Investment & Scholarships

Vincent Neal Named as First Executive Director for Canvas Foundation

Canvas Credit Union, one of Colorados leading credit unions for more than 84 years, is celebrating the Canvas Foundations latest efforts focused on investing in the Fort Collins community.

Aligned with one of the credit unions pillars of community giving schools Canvas continues to deepen its commitment to Colorado State University. Canvas has gifted wrapped minibusses to CSUs admissions department, to enhance the experience of providing campus tours with prospective students and their families. The donation comes as the partnership marks the second year of the Canvas Scholars Program benefitting first-generation college students. So far, the scholarship program has supported 10 students, awarding a total of $36,500. Canvas has a longstanding relationship with CSU, kicking off its 15-year sponsorship deal with the university in 2018. Canvas operates the Lory Student Center Branch on campus, offers dedicated CSU account services for students, faculty and staff, and holds the naming rights to the universitys Canvas Stadium.

The impact of Canvas spirit of service and commitment to the community is reflected in the latest Best of Fort Collins awards. Organized by the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the community voted Canvas as the winner in both the credit union and bank categories.

State Employees Credit Union Awards Scholarships To Bcc Students

Dublin State Employees Credit Union Members, through the member-funded SECU Foundation, have awarded $5,000 scholarships to Cody Long and Emily Mote, students at Bladen Community College.

Based on the credit union philosophy of people helping people, these scholarships recognize the students leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Scholarship funds will be applied to tuition and other expenses associated with their community college education.

State Employees Credit Union local advisory board member Cynthia McKoy comments, My fellow SECU members and I are dedicated to helping students succeed in their pursuit of higher education. The SECU People Helping People Scholarship Program allows us the opportunity to provide resources for many deserving individuals to attain their educational goals through our states excellent community college system. As a representative of the SECU, I am very pleased to award these scholarships to Cody Long and Emily Mote.

Annually, SECU members provide two People Helping People scholarships to each of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina through the SECU Foundation Scholarship Program. To date, over $6 million has been awarded to help the states community college students further their education.

  • Be a senior at a North Carolina public high school accepted into one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina.
  • Demonstrate scholastic achievement with a 2.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and be deserving of financial aid.

    Honor Credit Union giving scholarships to local high school seniors

    SECU Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies /School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship valued at $10,000 payable at $1,250 for up to eight consecutive semesters for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System.

    Recipients of the scholarship will be selected by the LEA Scholarship Selection Committee provided they meet all eligibility criteria. Scholarship recipient information must be submitted by the Scholarship Selection Committee at each LEA. No individual applications are reviewed by the Foundation.     In 2018, SECU Foundation introduced the SECU Bridge to Career Program. This program is available to all 58 North Carolina Community Colleges. Designed to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials that lead to sustainable wage careers within their local communities, SECU Bridge to Career Program will fund $500 scholarships to be awarded to eligible students at each of the 58 NC Community College campuses.

    SECU Bridge to Career Program will focus on assisting unemployed and underemployed adults, military veterans, and members of the National Guard with marketable job skills that lead to sustainable wage careers within their local communities. Participants must be enrolled in a program that leads to a state recognized or industry supported credential.
