How To Find And Apply For Vocational Scholarships

Vocational students find scholarships based on their study area, school, and career goals. Professional organizations, private foundations, and nonprofit organizations grant scholarships to vocational students. This section offers tips to help students find vocational scholarships. It also gives suggestions on applying for and obtaining scholarships.

A Brief Introduction To Engineering Scholarships

Engineering is one of the most popular majors in the United States. In fact, about 144,818 students earned a degree in an engineering field in 2019, and that number is only expected to grow.

It’s not surprising that students are seeking out engineering degrees: not only can a degree in engineering lead you to a high-paying job after graduation, but it can also help place you and the country at the forefront of technological innovation. Because of this, there are many engineering scholarships available, sponsored both by private organizations and the national government.

The scholarships on this list are aimed at graduating high school seniors and college undergraduates. They are also primarily aimed at US citizens or permanent residents, and are open to almost all students studying engineering in accredited programs, with the main restrictions being location and grade level.

We’ve divided up these engineering scholarships into the following categories:

One quick note: there are many other engineering scholarships available that are specifically targeted at underrepresented groups in this field, such as women, minorities, and international students than the few that appear on this list.

We’ve tried to keep our list as general as possible, but if you’re part of one of these groups, be sure to search for additional scholarships you might qualify for.

Can You Get A Full Ride To Community College

You can definitely get a full ride to community college if you find the right fit! A great place to start is our list of full ride scholarships. You can also look into community grants and local scholarships. Community college is generally much more affordable than other universities, so even if you dont get a full ride, theres a good chance you could secure an affordable financial aid package.

Its worth noting that the term full ride generally means that room, board, and all other associated expenses are paid for. However, most community colleges dont offer food or housing, so in the context of community college, you might end up with a full-tuition scholarship rather than a full ride.

The Costs Of Trade Schools

The tuition and fees charged by trade schools vary widely, and not all are affordable. Its wise to compare tuition and fees to avoid overpaying for occupational training.

What Are Vocational Scholarships

Also called technical school or trade school scholarships, vocational scholarships help students cover the cost of furthering their education at a qualifying institution. They are a form of financial aid. Unlike student loans, its a type of financial assistance that doesnt need to be paid back.

Once awarded, a student can apply the trade school scholarship funds toward qualifying expenses like tuition and fees. In turn, that reduces the students out-of-pocket financial burden for furthering their education.

Usually, trade school grants and scholarships focus on specific career paths or industries. Thats not unlike a college scholarship limiting applicants to those studying a particular major.

However, some are broader, opening the door to anyone pursuing a trade school education. Others use different qualifiers, such as belong to a particular demographic, instead of focusing on the students ultimate career.
